On 14 May 1948, part of the erstwhile Eretz-Israel was finally restored to the Jewish people as the State of Israel. 14 May 2021 was the august occasion of the modern nation’s 73rd birthday. The equally august Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day, was five days earlier, the occasion for a rude awakening.
