Trump survived. Can his country?
"They would not listen, they're not listening still. Perhaps they never will."
I woke up this morning to the news of the assassination attempt on Donald J. Trump, the previous President of the United States, at a rally in Pennsylvania yesterday, 13 July 2024. Bleeding from his ear, blood on a determined face, fist of defiance raised high, and the flag still flying, how could one not see Iwo Jima?
I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realised then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
The would-be assassin was shot dead. Those who set him in motion will be found, if not now, then when archives are opened, someone years from now can hold their tongue no longer, or a dogged researcher finally tracks down the scrap of paper that Winston Smith did not incinerate. 7 October made them sit up. Will 13 July finally make them listen?
