If "a light unto the nations" means anything, it means this
"And unto your light, nations shall walk."
For fourteen hundred years, except for an all too brief period of Western colonialism, the peoples of the world have had no protection from the barbarian scourge that goes by the name of Islam. The Jews, against all odds, rebuilt their country right in the middle of what had by then become axiomatic “Muslim land”. From this parched slither they would henceforth be free to defend themselves with deadly force, for they are no longer dhimmis, and from which they would pursue their enemies and kill them, for they are no longer beholden. The profundity of 14 May 1948 is much greater than a national home for the Jews, profound as that in itself may be. It is about being a light unto the nations, and the first nation has just asked for that light.
The media are ablaze with news of the Syrian Druze asking to be annexed to Israel. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has been clear-eyed about the march of jihad. The Druze, a vulnerable people right in the path of a devouring hurricane, are in no position to be naïve or starry-eyed, or to indulge in wishful thinking. Their situation is deadly serious and down to the wire. Their’s is not a hopeless cry to the world, “Save Our Souls!” to which no one in particular is obligated to reply. Their cry is very specific: “Israel, annex us!” There can be no question about whom is being addressed, or what is being asked for.
A tiny people in a tiny corner of an extremely violent land is asking for asylum in Israel, except that they will not take anything away from Israel, only add to her, by paying for their lives with their homes, their villages and their farms. There cannot be more exemplary refugees than these, of more exemplary record and more exemplary trust. There may have been reasons for Israel to not annex Damascus, but the Druze lands, right next door, with them begging for it. Return their trust.
Let us not lose sight of the fact that this is also a critical moment for Islam, a point not lost on its jihad vanguard now ensconced in Damascus, who at this very moment are sweet-talking their way into the hearts of the most naïve, capitulatory and treacherous Western leaders, such as those of France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Wait for the rest… There is no iniquity too low.
Be well aware that if you annex the Druze lands, it will be an official loss of “Muslim land” resulting directly from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and the IRGC attacking Israel on 7 October 2023. In other words, a four-army jihad force fought a weakened and divided Israel for over a year, only to end up losing yet more of the ummah’s land to the Jews. Readers unfamiliar with Islam, will not appreciate just how profound this is. Saving the Syrian Druze by annexing their lands alone can bring down the regime in Tehran under the sheer weight of its humiliation. It will set off an internal crisis such as Islam has not seen in a very long time, and, if we dare wish, might even cause jihad to implode. Israel’s problems solved for good (at least the external ones).
The momentum is with Israel. You have the region in your hands and it is yours for the making. Make it as you will. The nations are calling on you to be a light unto them, starting with the most agreeable of all the nations, the Druze. Do not forsake them, for the Middle Eastern Christians need you, too. They will follow. It is time to rise to your role, and fast. "And unto your light, nations shall walk."

Dear Anjuli Pandavar
Thank you for posting this article about the chaos in Syria.
I'm not surprised that the Druze in Syria have asked the protection of Israel but why on earth would you define us as a lesser evil when you are asking to be annexed to us if we are evil?
Anyway, based on the fact that the Druze of the Golan Heights have been under our jurisdiction since 1967. They have been treated as equal citizens in Israel since then.
The Druze in Israel are considered as our blood brothers and hold equal positions in every aspect of life here.
Even during the civil war in Syria from 2011, our military set up medical and humanitarian services to the refugees of Syria though the country is considered our enemy.

As far as I'm aware, Israel will not abandon the Druze in Syria and we hope that the US will not abandon the Kurds in Syria.

Hi Ben Dor A.,
I'm not as certain about the "lesser evil" remark as you are, for a number of reasons, some of which might be:
1. They are still trapped in Syria, on the verge of being wiped out. We cannot expect them to precipitate that eventuality by being complimentary towards Israel. By the same token, they buy time for themselves by giving the impression that they would rather not do this. Why such a strong term? Barbarians don't do subtlety.
2. Within their own ethos, it might be that to abandon your homeland is a bad thing, but to remain and then be wiped out is the greater of two evils.
3. I suspect that their call for annexation is being done in coordination with Israel, following prior discussions. By issuing what can be construed as an insult to Jews gives the Israeli government plausible deniability.
4. I think we can credit the Druze with the discretion to not insult the one they need help from, and if they appear to be doing this, that there is likely to be more behind it.
Just my thoughts.
Best regards,
Anjuli
