Hanukkah Sameach
Not Jews, not Israel, but life is what the rockets are intended to snuff out. Driving out death and darkness is what these rockets, beaten into a menorah, now do. Thus will this most violent of enemies be made to reflect on the power of this most peaceful act of war.
they shall beat their swords into ploughshares
โIsiah 2:4
In this time of war, the Israel Police have turned the swords of our time into the ploughshares of our time in an inspired consolidation of tragedy, hope, defiance and resurrection, thereby adding several layers of meaning to this year's Hanukkah.
Israel Hayom reports that the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Israel Police,
took missile fragments that had brought loss of life and great darkness to many people and transformed them into an impressive menorah that will spread the light of hope.
The defiant menorah will travel around Israel's northern communities and each of the eight days and nights will stand still, both so that the next candle may be lit, and so that respect may be paid to the many victims of jihad rocket and missile attacks upon Israel.
Each part of this menorah was at some point in its early existence handled by someone wallowing in mediaeval darkness, burning with hatred for Jews, and dedicating his handiwork to killing them. Already right here the ironies begin, for the most prominent and barbaric of the jihad mass murders carried out by rocket has been the Hezbollah slaying of twelve Druze Arab children playing football in Majdal Shams on the Golan Heights in July this year.
Among the components making up the menorah are parts of the rocket that killed 12 children while they were playing soccer in Majdal Shams, fragments of the missile that directly struck Shfaram resulting in the death of an educator, and pieces of the rocket that caused the deaths of a couple from Kiryat Shmona while they were walking their dogs in the city.
